sullivan-stapleton Suddenly-everywhere Australian actor Sullivan Stapleton is the latest name linked to “Star Wars: Episode VII.” Well, sort of. He’s another guy who’s gone in for a read, according to Latino Review.

Naturally, there are no further details on which character he may have read for or what his chances are of actually being cast, but LR further detail that Stapleton may have gotten in trouble with his people and Lucasfilm because he talked a little too freely about having gone in to audition. Whoops! Whether that has affected his chances or not, he now joins the ranks of David Oyelowo and Michael B. Jordan, Saoirse Ronan, Rachel Hurd Wood and Alex Pettyfer and Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling as potential stars of JJ Abrams’ highly-anticipated relaunch of one of the biggest film franchises of all time. Meanwhile, that Benedict Cumberbatch rumor still hovers and might be the closest we have to someone actually joining the cast thus far. Filming is expected to begin in February 2014, with a late 2015 release date tentatively eyed.

Stapleton co-starred with Joel Edgerton in 2010′s “Animal Kingdom,” a movie that’s proven to be quite a starmaker, having also outsourced Oscar nominee Jackie Weaver, Ben Mendelsohn and young up and comer James Frecheville. He was last seen opposite Ryan Gosling and Anthony Mackie in “Gangster Squad” and will soon play the lead role of Themistocles in sequel “300: Rise of an Empire” opposite Eva Green. He’s currently filming Aussie thriller “Kill Me Three Times” opposite Teresa Palmer and Simon Pegg and is also attached to another Aussie indie, “Cut Snake” opposite “Chronicle” star Alex Russell.
